This easy to knit cowl or snood is knit in the round, with lead in/out rows of ribbing and the body of the piece being a simple lace mesh- no shaping or difficult stitching, just a simple and elegant look. You can easily knit the piece to be longer or shorter (using more or less yardage) - a longish (15"/38 cm)cowl needs just one ball of worsted cotton yarn aprox. 196 yds/ 180m (sample shown -15"- used one ball Knit One Crochet Too TyDy color #289 - 196 yd/180 m). You may use another fiber but for warm weather wear - cotton, linen, or another 'cool'/breathable fiber is recommended. No blocking necessary but you may do so for the lace mesh section only (do not stretch or block the ribbing)
Gauge not critical but mine was 19 sts in K2, P2 ribbing
