I have been knitting on and off since my teens, but became somewhat obsessed with it in 2007. I love squishy wools for the short, mild Los Angeles winters, and like cottons and blends for the rest of the year. I really believe that even beginner knitters can create something beautiful and useful, so I strive to keep patterns simple yet original. I am Goodstuff on Ravelry, and blog from time to time about knitting and life here: http://www.knitandtravelandsuch.blogspot.com/.
I have sold designs to Interweave Knits, Knitpicks, Creative Knitting magazine, KNIT magazine (Yarn Forward), Yarn magazine, Knit Now magazine, Classic Elite Yarns, The Sanguine Gryphon, and Three Irish Girls Yarns.
This pretty hat and mitt set is accented with a lace pattern showing the first new leaves of spring pushing up from the soil. The leaves stand out against a background of reverse stockinette stitch. A few rows of ribbing at the bottom and top provide a snug fit. Two sizes are provided in the pattern: S/M and M/L. This set is the perfect project for that special skein of hand-dyed yarn. Finished Size of Mitts: Smaller size will fit a hand 17.5 - 20 cm (7- 8 inches) around. Larger mitts will fit a hand between 20-22.5 cm (8 - 9 inches) around. Mitts are 17.5 cm/7 inches long. Finished size of Hat: Hat pattern is written for S/M to fit an average sized teen/adult head - 45-50 cm (18-20 inches), and M/L for a larger head or looser fit - 50-58 cm (20-23 inches). Skills required: Simple lace, knitting in the round, increases and decreases. Pattern has been professionally tech edited.
