Pattern Description:

This is a pattern set with 6 different versions. There's the wide straight brim, the slanting brim, and no brim, each with a clockwise spiral and counter-clockwise spriral pattern.

You can use any self-striping yarn, or stripe between 2 or more solids. There are tons of variations in the pdf with yarn ideas, and slouching/beret style versions, made with simple pattern modifications.

These hats are a fun way to play with short-rows on a small scale; great for beginner knitters wanting to try something a little more complex!

Gauge:

approximately 4.5 stitches per inch, 6 rows per inch (gauge can be adjusted for size/style variations, as explained in notes)

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • with no modifications, fitted adult medium size - snug on a 22 inch head; instructions are included for making other sizes

Materials:

  • approx 90-120 yards of worsted weight yarn
  • size US 9 needles, or sized to get gauge
  • a third needle (a size or two bigger) for a 3 needle bind off

You Will Also Need:

  • 1 or 2 stitch markers, depending on hat pattern
