Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knit, purl, decrease stitches, cable stitches

Pattern Description:

The geometric pattern formed by the twisted stitches on these socks was inspired by the beautiful leaded spires of Southwark Cathedral in London. The socks are knitted in the round from the cuff down.

Both charts and written instructions are included.


32 stitches 42 rounds = 10cm (4") in stocking stitch in the round.

44 stitches 48 rounds = 10cm (4") in twisted stitch pattern in the round (lightly stretched).

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • S [M, L] to fit foot circumference: 18 [20, 23]cm (7 [8, 9]")


  • 2.75mm (US 2) double-pointed or circular needles
  • 280 [380, 470]m (310 [420, 510]yds) of 4ply / fingering weight yarn

You Will Also Need:

  • 2 stitch markers
  • Cable needle
  • Tapestry needle
