Sockie Sack

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knit and purl, knit in the round, slip stitches, I cord (Instructions are given in pattern.)

Pattern Description:

I love making bags and using stash yarn creatively. I found that you can mix all kinds of colors that do not necessarily look like they go well together if you do it in small amounts. This bag uses all kinds of sock yarn. You will change yarns randomly and create a unique pattern. The slipped stitches help blend colors and avoid obvious stripes.

The bag starts with a circular garter stitch bottom, and then you will make the body in the round. There is a ruffle at the top for flair. The I cord strap is threaded through buttonholes at the top of the bag. Lining the bag is optional, but it may add some stability.

28 stitches/ 4 inches, 40 rows/ 4 inches in stockinette stitch.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 28 inches around, 10.75 inches high.

  • A large assortment of small amounts of sock yarn.- Total needed is approximately 450 yards (412 meters). Size 2 (2.75 mm) double pointed needles, size 2 (2.75 mm) 24 inch circular needle.

You Will Also Need:

  • Stitch markers, lining fabric (optional.)
