The Silva Hat is a comfortable, slouchy, unisex hat that is perfect for fall and winter weather. It is versatile, comfy, and cozy! The name "Silva" comes from the Latin word for "forest." This is a simple pattern that is perfect for any knitter who is comfortable knitting in the round.
For this pattern you will need 16 inch US 8/5mm circular knitting needles and a set of four US 8/5mm double pointed needles (DPN's). You will also need a stitch marker, a ruler and a tapestry needle. A row counter is also helpful, but if you don't have one a piece a paper to tally your rows will work just fine!
The yarn used for this project is one skein (100 grams) of Auracania Azapo, which is a gorgeous blend of merino, alpaca, silk, and rayon. It is a bulky yarn with slight thick-to-thin texture. You can also substitute any similar yarn that you like. The gauge is 5 stitches = 1 inch in stockinette stitch on US 8/5mm needles. This pattern is knit in one size and fits most adult sized heads.
5 stitches = 1 inch
