Basic Skills Necessary:

Pattern Description:

Nubbly garter stitch, jaunty stripes, crisp angles, luxurious yarn, and a sleek edging add up to one fabulous knit. The generous shawl and cute shawlette are knit in one piece with sportweight yarn. To create the unique angles, Shipshape is worked with simple increases and decreases, and to give your creation that perfectly polished look, Shipshape is finished with an attached i-cord edging. Shipshape is sure to be a versatile accessory all year round!

Width at widest point of triangle: 25 (36)"
Depth of triangle at center: 121/2 (16)"
Length of each arm: 283/4 (33)"

SHAWL: shown in Madelinetosh Pashmina (75% merino, 15% silk, 10% cashmere; 360 yds/ approx. 110 g)
Main Color (MC): 500 yards; shown in "Bare," 2 skeins
Contrast Color (CC): 250 yards; shown in "Fathom," 1 skein
I-Cord Edging: 100 additional yards of EITHER of MC or CC (shown in "Bare," MC)

SHAWLETTE: also shown in Madelinetosh Pashmina
MC: 300 yards; shown in "Tern," 1 skein
CC: 150 yards; shown in "Neon Rose," 1 skein
I-Cord Edging: 60 additional yards of EITHER of MC or CC (shown in "Neon Rose," CC)


5 sts and 10 rows = 1 inch in garter stitch, after blocking


  • 24" US6 circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge;
