Scrunchie Hat

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knitting in the round
  • purling in the round

Pattern Description:

This is a quick and easy project for almost any yarn giving a Stocking stitch gauge of between 4 - 8 sts per inch. It's ideal for using up small amounts of precious yarns. A soft wool yarn will be the most warm, comfortable and elastic. The hat fits a wide range of head sizes and can be customized in many ways or knit as a headband by omitting the crown.

This versatile pattern is suitable to various yarn weights and thus the gauge is variable--anywhere between 4 and 8 stitches per inch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 21"-23" around

  • approximately 100 g of yarn -- Worsted to Fingering Weight

You Will Also Need:

  • a set of 4 or 5 double pointed needles may be used throughout, though working the brim on a 40 cm circular needle is much more fun!
