Pattern Description:
The slip-stitch color-work pattern in these mitts has the beneficial side effect of creating a thick, warm fabric. A slipped rib in the main color borders the houndstooth pattern, which is made by knitting two-round stripes of each color, slipping some stitches from the previous row. This is color-work at its simplest, and the mitts are a small enough project to make a stack of them for gifts, playing with different color combinations and keeping your favorites for yourself.
Gauge:
4" = 19 sts and 24 rows in Houndstooth Slip-Stitch Pattern on larger needles
Note: yarn shown usually knits at 16-18 sts to 4" in Stocking Stitch
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- Hand Circumference: 7" (7.5", 8.25")
- Length: 8"
Materials:
- 60(70, 80) yards aran weight yarn in main color
- 50(60, 70) yards aran weight yarn in contrast color
- US 3 (3.25mm) and 7 (4.5mm) sets of 4 double-pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge and 4 sizes smaller
- stitch marker
- 10" of waste yarn
- yarn needle
