Schaad Hat

(6) Name: 'Knitting : Schaad Hat
Schaad Hat
Schaad Hat

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit
  • purl
  • work in the round

Pattern Description:

This is a fun, ribbed hat in two sizes - one to fit
adults and one for babies. There is a lot of stretch
in the ribbing, so the "adult" hat will fit most
children, too.

I named this pattern after my dad,
since the first one I made was for him.

See notes at the end for making this hat in
custom sizes and other gauges.

7 sts/inch or 27.5 sts/10 cm in k2, p2
ribbing, unstretched, made with larger needles.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Instructions are given with the baby size first and the adult size in parenthesis. When only one set of instructions are given, follow them for both sizes.

  • Worsted-weight yarn. About 300 yards [275 m] for the baby size and about 450 yards [415 m] for the adult size, although this will vary depending on your exact gauge and desired length.
  • Sizes 6 (4.0 mm) and 8 (5.0 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge, in whatever type the knitter prefers for working small circumferences in the round. I used a set of 5 dpns.

You Will Also Need:

  • 4 stitch markers

Suggested yarn:

450 yards of Worsted weight
