Pattern Description:

Santa Slouch features a double-thick ribbed brim (the two layers are joined by knitting stitches together--no sewing required!). A pompom tutorial with pictures is included in the pattern.

The hat is written for only one size; however, the double ribbing is extremely stretchy, so the hat will easily fit heads from 18"-26" in circumference.


19 sts/26 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in stockinette stitch on size US #7 [4.5 mm] needles.


  • US #7 [4.5 mm] circular needle, 16 or 20 inches long
  • Set US #7 [4.5 mm] double-pointed needles.

You Will Also Need:

  • Stitch marker
  • Yarn needle
  • Thin cardboard and sharp scissors to make pompom

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Patons Classic Wool (100% wool; 210 yds/192 m per 100g skein)


1 skein Bright Red (main color) & 1 skein Aran (contrasting color).
