Pattern Description:

I live near the Weskeag River, a short tidal stream on the coast of Maine that the Abenaki Indians called "Wessaweskeag" meaning, "Salt Creek". Not only is the name inordinately fun to say, this 'stream' is one of the most powerful things I've ever seen in my life. Four times a day it funnels in and out of its bed under a narrow bridge that creates a roaring surge of water that could rival Niagara Falls for velocity.
I designed this cap to be a gentle, wooly tribute to that awesome spectacle. The single cable rides up the side *almost* like a swirling channel of water.
Knit in the round on large needles, this hat is a quick knit but not without a couple of small details that make both the process and the finished product interesting.

One size will fit most. The design is generously ribbed to fit a wide range of heads!
Finished measurements are approximately 17 inches around, 9 inches tall.

I live within walking distance of the sea on the Northern coast ...
