Pattern Description:

Knit in the round with two colors of DK weight yarn, the Rowhouse Hat offers an easy introduction to stranded color knitting. The color motif is worked on a 16-inch circular needle, so there's no fiddling with dpns while you're knitting with the two colors. The pattern provides instructions for four sizes, which means you can make this hat for everyone, from kids to adults.

Sizes: XS (S, M, L): 17.5 (19.25, 20.75, 22.25) inches/44 (49, 53, 56) cm circumference (unstretched); 8.25 (8.75, 9.25, 9.75) inches/21 (22, 23, 25) cm length. Will stretch to fit heads approximately 18-20 (20-22, 21-23, 23-25) inches/45-51 (51-54, 53-58, 58-64) cm circumference

Yardage: Main (lighter) color: 70 (80, 90, 100) yds/64 (73, 82, 91) m DK weight wool; contrast (darker) color: 115 (125, 135, 145) yds/105 (114, 123, 133) m DK weight wool. Sample shown is the Medium size and was knit with Swans Island Organic Washable DK [100% washable merino wool; 140yd/128m per 50g skein], one skein each of Dove (MC) and Mushroom (CC).

Needles: US #4/3.5mm and US #5/3.75mm 16-inch circular needles; US #4/3.5mm double-pointed needles

Gauge: 20 sts/30 rows = 4"/10 cm in stockinette stitch on smaller needle after blocking

Pattern difficulty: Advanced beginner

Skills required: casting on, knit, purl, decreases, working in the round on a circular needle and on dpns. The Rowhouse color motif is provided in chart form.
