Pattern Description:

Rich in texture, simplistic in creation.

Composed of simple lace and knitted rows bordered by a band of moss stitch, Riesling cables and weaves back and forth resulting in layers of texture that pile up around your neck keeping you warm and cozy.

The loop is competed with 3 buttons mainly because I like buttons on knitting and have a lovely stash, but you could just as easily cast on with the provisional method, omit rows 1 & 2, and seam the cowl together at the end.

The name Riesling does come from the wine, which is summarized as having a "broad range" of flavors. That seemed fitting for this cowl since it has flat stockinette sections, open lace, moss texture, and cables - a broad range of knitting, all wrapped into one little package. I also recommend looking for EcoCloud yarn for even more texture. It's like a soft little strand of Icord.

And the reference to wine is also because I usually find myself sipping wine while knitting. What can I say, living next door to CA wine country has it's perks!
