Pattern Description:

This classic stole in hand dyed yarn features mock cables with a border of herringbone lace.

This pattern teaches you a special technique to alternate two balls of hand dyed yarn EVERY row in flat knitting. This avoids both yarn strands being carried up the same edge, which happens if you alternate in the usual way of every 2 rows. Thus, you will get a pretty edge at each end of your knitting.

(works great for 2 balls/skeins of different dye lots, too!)

Gauge:

19 stitches = 4 inches

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

18" by 64"

Materials:

fingering weight: 2 skeins at 400 yards each (total 800 yards)
Size US 7 (4.5 mm); although the stole is knitted flat, a circular needle is required so that knitting a row can begin from either end of the needle
