The inspiration for the pattern emerged from my experimenting with ruffles and casting on horizontally. By casting off each section individually, I achieved the rounded edge indicative of a rose petal. The beading is optional, but I like the elegant look they add. The twisting occurs naturally.
With the optional beading, the pattern transitions from causal to dressy. It is conducive to a wide variety of ties. Loop it around your neck and let the ruffles fall naturally. Fold it in half and pull one end through, then twist the loop and pull the other end through gives the "knotted" look in one of the pictures. Or go for a "c'est la vie" look with other tying styles. This pattern is special because it was my first pattern to be released for sale.
This scarf is knit in Americo Original's Pima Lace. Americo yarns are manufactured in socially responsible mills in the Andean highlands of South America.
Tech Edited by Katherine Vaughan.

While hospitalized for a long while, I sought an enjoyable distraction from the daily drudgery of medical tests. Having learned some basic knitting skills as a young girl from my talented Baba and very creative great grandmother, I decided to again try my hand at this craft. Knitting quickly became a passion as a single sweater accelerated into creating my own designs for both myself and others to enjoy.
The diagnosis of neurotoxicity, organ damage, and chemical sensitivity mandates an isolated lifestyle free from the impact of modern day chemicals. Eco Chic Knits was conceived with this in mind. As I began to formulate new designs, two key philosophies were foremost in my thinking:
1. Knits that fit curves
2. Unique and intricate patterns
Hence, Eco Chic Knits' debut publication of the "Relaxed Petal Ruffle Scarf." An immediate positive response indicated a niche market.
Concurrently, I am privileged to pursue a Masters of Arts in Philosophy through distance education and am the author of a children's book series, "Cheeky's Tales." The series is based on my Great Dane, Cheeky. In her first adventure, "Cheeky's Security Blanket," Cheeky learns about self-identity and materialism through several incidents involving her collar.
I hope you derive as much enjoyment in working up my patterns as I have had in creating them! Today is a good day to Knit :-)
