Pattern Description:

Called Rat Hat because I couldn't resist the sound of it, but really it is a Rodent Hat being a pattern for a mouse, or a dormouse, or a rat, or a - well, anything with big round ears...
Pattern has 3 sizes for ears and 2 for noses.
There's a pattern for a bonus bow as well.
This is an easy knit for beginners.

Have fun with it - I hope your little rug-rats like it!


13.5 sts, 20 rows to 10 cm in stocking stitch on 5.5 mm (US 9) needles, using doubled 8 ply yarn

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • to fit 40cm, 45 cm, 50 cms head (baby to preschooler)


  • any 8 ply/DK yarn to be used double

You Will Also Need:

  • 1 pair 5.5 mm (US 9) needles
  • 1 pair 4 mm (US 6) needles for nose and bow
