Pattern Description:

Worked in Sport (newborn & infant) or Worsted (child & adult) weight yarn, this pattern puts the knitter in the designing spotlight.

1 pattern + 2 styles + 4 panels per hat + 12 panels to choose = Endless Possibilities!

YOU choose the panels: 4 of the same, 2 different alternated, 4 different or any combination in between.

It all starts with a teeny rolled edge followed by 3 X 1 rib, then alternating panels chosen from the provided charts.

Top with a layered pom pom, tassel or fairy pull. The pom pom sets off the panels nicely. The real fun of this hat is with one pattern, many different hats are possible. The panels are separated by a single column of seed stitch. The knitter can combine the panels any way desired. The possibilities are endless...

2 styles: Skull & Slouch.
4 sizes: Infant, Newborn, Child & Adult.


20 sts x 26 rows = 4 ins in worsted weight in
stranded stockinette
24 sts x 32 rows = 4 ins in fingering or sport in stranded stockinette.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Newborn, Infant, Child, Adult sizes


  • 350-400 yds worsted or sport weight yarn (size dependent)
  • US Sizes 6 & 7 24 inch circ needles (child & adult sized in worsted)
  • US Sizes 3 & 4 16 inch circ needles (newborn & infant in sport or fingering yarn)

You Will Also Need:

  • seaming needle, 4 stitch markers

Suggested yarn:

350 yards of Worsted weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Cascade 220 (worsted) or Quince Chickadee (fingering/ sport)
