Pattern Description:

ompletely puzzled? :-)
My mom loves puzzles. So I have been surrounded by them forever.
When I finally had a ride on a bus with seats with a puzzle print the idea for this pattern was born.

This beanie is knit in two colors of 4-ply sock yarn only.
But you can also use 5-ply yarn (to make it more slouchy) or Acrylic yarn of similar weight.

One solid color and a multicolor yarn. The multicolor yarn should be clearly distinguishable from the solid color otherwise the pattern will not come out so nicely.
But you can certainly use two solid colors, too :-)

You need about 35 g of each color. So it(tm)s a good sock yarn leftover project, too.

The beanie is a two color ribbing, followed by the puzzle pattern.

It can easily adjusted to bigger and smaller sizes by adding/leaving out a pattern repeat.

Enjoy and happy knitting!

Gauge:

Knitting gauge in stranded pattern: 1 x 1 inch: 8 stitches and 9 rows (2 x 2 cm: 6 stitches and 7
rows).

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • This beanie fits size S and M. (about 54 " 56 cm head circumreference) But you can adjust it to fit any size and yarn by adding/leaving out a pattern repeat. So it's completely flexible!

Materials:

  • You need (4-ply sock yarn yardage 210 " 211 m/50g = about 230 yards/50g): about 35 g of 4-ply black, 35 g of multicolor sock yarn.
  • you can also use Acrylic yarn of similar weight or 5-ply yarn (then the beanie will get more slouchy)

You Will Also Need:

  • Circular needle 40 cm 3.00 mm and 5 double pointed needles size 3.00 mm for the top of the head.
  • For bigger heads go up one needle size
  • Tapestry needle to weave in the ends

Suggested yarn:

230 yards of Fingering weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

I used Opal uni solid and Opal Antonia but you can use any 4-ply sock yarn leftovers from any manufacturer!

Colorway:

black and multicolor (choose your own!!)
