Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Kniting, Purling in the round. Increase and Decrease stitches

Pattern Description:

After this extreme cold wave I realized that fingerless gloves were not enough protection against the cold. Having just purchased an IPhone 5 and watching the news one night thought to myself. Holy Cow - Polar Vortexting... we need a mitten. So I quickly found a spiraling (vortex) knitting pattern and created this warm, tight fighting mitten that allows you to swipe your smart phone in any weather. I love wool, but you could use any wool blend or two strands of a lighter weight yarn. Use up your scraps... they look like alien mittens anyway...

Approximately 24 rows by 14 stitches for a 4x4-inch swatch.

  • Four Size 6 knitting needles; #4 yarn (wool or wool blends), darning needle, stitche holders, scissors

110 yards of Worsted weight
