Basic Skills Necessary:
- This is a novelty baby, toddler or child's penguin beanie. It is mostly knit in the round except for the penguin's scarf. The beak uses a Turkish Cast-on and directions are given for this technique.
Pattern Description:
I simply wanted to create a cute little penguin winter hat. The great thing about the hat is how stretchy it is!
Gauge:
Stockinette stitch and double-stranded:
Approximately 3.12 sts and 5 rows = 1 inch
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- Height: 5.5, 6, 6.75 or 7.25 inches
- Circumference: 13, 14, 15.5 or 17.5 inches
Materials:
- Hobby Lobby's "I Love This Yarn" 100% Acrylic (#4 Med wt) - 1 skein each of green and white
- Scraps of Hobby Lobby's "I Love This Yarn" 100% Acrylic (#4 Med wt) in black and orange
- US Size 10 16-inch circular needle
- US Size 10 DPNs
- US Size 9 DPNs
- Note: Make the main color any color you like (it, of course, does not have to be green)!
You Will Also Need:
- black felt or buttons for eyes
- row marker
- crochet hook (any size)
- blunt needle
- black thread
- sewing needle
