Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit
  • purl
  • slip stitches from left needle to right

Pattern Description:

This shawl has been described by knitters as "texture love." It's elegantly simple and uses just knits and purls to have a big impact.

This pattern is for a square shawl with an open neck that can be worked in any DK or worsted yarn and knit to any desired size. It's a very adaptable, personalize-able pattern, so it's hard to say exactly how much yarn you will want to use.

Two skeins of tosh dk is more than enough for a shawl with a 15" center spine down the back. Other weights of yarn and gauges may require different yardage.

Gauge:

20 sts = 4"/10 cm in Stockinette Stitch; exact gauge is not crucial

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • adjustable size
  • shawlette has a 13" to 15" back center spine

Materials:

  • Yarn: about 400 yards DK weight; also works in worstsed
  • long circular knitting needles, size US 7/4.5mm or other as desired

You Will Also Need:

  • 3 locking stitch markers or safety pins
  • large eyed needle for finishing
