Pattern Description:

This hat and mitten set is quick and easy to knit! Find a fun novelty yarn to work into the cuffs of both the hat and mittens--the more textured, the better! Because the main part of the hat and mittens is knitted with two worsted weight yarns held together as one, you can achieve a mottled color effect with two differently colored yarns and your results will be extra warm and cozy.

In stockinette stitch using 2 strands of worsted weight held together, 3 stitches/ 4 rows = 1 inch.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • NOVELTY CAP Sizes (head circumference) Child -19", (Adult Medium-21", Adult Large-23")
  • NOVELTY MITTENS Sizes (Palm circumference) Small- 6" (Medium-8", Large-9")

  • Novelty Yarn: about 12 yards
  • Main Yarn: Two 100-yard skeins EACH of two worsted weight yarns (one dark colored, one light colored). Use one strand of each color held together as one throughout the knitting.
  • Needles: US size 10 1/2 double-point needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.
