Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Ability to read color charts
  • Work with two colors on double-pointed needles, Magic Loop, or two circulars.

Pattern Description:

These beautiful two color mittens are reminiscent of a pair I saw in a museum in the style of the popular Selbu mittens of the 1800s. The front of each mitten is an intricate diamond shaped motif, while the palm is worked in a simple 4-stitch repeat. The thumb and thumb gusset are worked in a separate motif, as are the cuffs.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Mitten circumference: Child- 6" (Woman-8" , Man- 10")
  • Mitten length: Child-8 (Woman-11, Man- 12.75)"


  • Yarn: 2 (2, 3) oz. sport weight yarn in EACH of two colors: Dark (MC) and Light (CC)
