Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit, purl

Pattern Description:

Both versions of this quick knit cushiony cowl are great first brioche projects. Like Multnomah Falls, there are 2 cascading sections to this scarf and you can choose to knit both or just one of the "falls". You will find yourself knitting both patterns in various yarns and lengths!

The brioche stitch is completely reversible and is very squishy as it's a double-sided stitch pattern. The scarf can be made in any length and using just about any yarn weight for varying levels of sophistication. Wear it with anything from silk blouses to your warm winter coat. Warning: Brioche knitting is addicting.....enjoy!

Yarn Notes: Using the DK weight, will need 150 yds for short version. 300 yds for longer version. You can use whatever yarn weight you choose, simply adjust the needle size to get the result you desire. A looser Brioche rib is squishier than a tight one.

Gauge:

Knit a swatch to get the desired effect that you want in the brioche stitch. Totally adjustable as far as width and length.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 12" wide by 20" long for shorter version and 12" by 60" for longer version.
