Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Basic Knitting skills of Knit & Purl stitches. Adding & decreasing stitches (descriptions are in the pattern). Using double pointed needles - no side seams! Sewing in Duplicate Stitch (description and photos are in the pattern).

Pattern Description:

Do you like Sock Monkeys? Does someone you know need a little Sock Monkey love? - here is your answer! This 5 page pattern, with 20 instructional photos, will show you how to knit a wonderful pair of Monkey Mittens. Knit with worsted weight yarn in 'traditional' Sock Monkey colors as shown here, or try your own colors - any worsted weight yarn will do.

Body: 9 sts = 2", 15 rows = 2"
Cuff: 10-12 sts = 2", 14 rows = 2"

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Two sizes: 3-4 year old, 5-6 year old.


  • Double pointed needles in sizes: 3 & 5. Worsted weight yarn. Total yardage for larger size: 155 yds. No more than 49 yds. per color. Use yarns suggested in pattern (Peace Fleece & Wool-Ease) or any worsted weight yarn you have on hand. Make in 'traditional' Sock Monkey colors - or in colors of your choice.
