Mitered Squares Shawl

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knit, sk2p, pick up and knit, ssk, k2tog

Pattern Description:

This is a beautiful shawl made of mitered squares. The shawl is easy to make and the project can be a stash buster, if you want. Although I have made it in fingering weight yarn, you can use any weight of yarn you like.


Each side of each square = 3" (8 cm) with size 4 needles or size to obtain gauge

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Wing span: 73" (185 cm)
  • Depth (Neck to bottom edge): 32" (81 cm)


  • 925 yd (846 m) 100% wool, super fine (fingering) weight yarn in Jute Heather (A)
  • 370 yd (338 m) 100% wool, super fine (fingering) weight yarn in Red (B)
  • 185 yd (169 m) 100% wool, super fine (fingering) weight yarn in Navy Blue (alt. B)

You Will Also Need:

  • Knitting needles size 4 (3.5 mm)
  • Crochet hook size C (2.75 mm)

Suggested yarn:

1480 yards of Fingering weight
