Pattern Description:

Margrit is a Pi-Shawl featuring four different lace patterns and a beautiful border. It is named after my mother in law. She's living with my husband and me because she has Alzheimer's and from the first tiny sections of this shawl she always told me how beautiful she thinks it is.

The pattern has been tech-edited and test-knit.


21.5 sts and 36 rows = 10 cm [4"] in stockinette stitch after blocking
(Gauge is not vital for this project, but it will affect the size of the FO and yardage)

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 132 cm (52") in diameter


  • 1225 yd of laceweight yarn

You Will Also Need:

  • A set of 4 dpns 3 mm [US 2 or 3], or a size to give you a fabric you like (you can use one of these again later, when you knit on the edging)., 3 mm [US 2 or 3] circular needle, or a size to give you a fabric you like, 12 stitch markers (1 of one color, 11 of another color), Crochet hook for cast on, Optional: 192 beads (Size 8, or take a length of your yarn to the store and see if it fits and if you like the look), Optional: Small crochet hook (I used 0.75 mm) for beading or dental floss
