Pattern Description:

This cute Sheep Hat has a ribbed brim and a garter stitch body with a stocking stitch 'face' worked in a contrast colour using the intarsia method. The ears are knit separately in stocking stitch and sewn on upon completion. The hat is knit flat on two needles with a seam at the back. The detailed written pattern includes row by row instructions, a chart for the intarsia sheep face and photos. The pattern is written for Aran (worsted) weight yarn and covers three sizes for babies from 0 - 18 months. This hat would make a lovely set with my Little Sheep Booties for Babies pattern, which uses the same yarn weight!


- 18 stitches and 24 rows to 4in/10cm using US 8/5mm needles over stocking stitch. - 18 stitches and 32 rows to 4in/10cm using US 8/5mm needles over garter stitch.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 0-3, 3-9, 9-18 months


  • 60[80:100]g Aran weight yarn in main colour
  • 30[40:50]g Aran weight yarn in contast colour

  • 1 pair US 8 / 5mm knitting needles
  • Tapestry needle
