Pattern Description:

Desert boots - they're everywhere at the moment, and don't we just love 'em! A great design classic and never out of style. Now the tiniest member of your family can be just as cool as mum, dad or older siblings and have their own pair. Stretchy and cosy, they tie on and look great on either a boy or a girl. Pictured in fashionable, cool cotton demin yarn with contrasting laces for extra authenticity, or why not try a contrast sole. Can also be knitted and felted, in wool for when it's a little colder. Shown also in a versatile neutral Shetland yarn.
They knit-up one piece, apart from the laces, with a single seam to stitch up. There's a small amount of shaping to follow but they are easy and super-quick to make.
Makes a great little gift to celebrate the birth of a new baby, and will be appreciated and used.... I looked all over for a pattern like this when my daughter was 3 months old and couldn't find one - so I made my own.
They take only a small amount of yarn so it's a good way of using up those little leftover oddments.

Approx 10 sts to 5.5cm, 3 rows to 1cm. NB.In this case tension is not too important as the knitted item is small, thus any variations will also be small.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Sizes. Size 1: Newborn-3 months (to fit foot length up to 9cm). Size 2: 3-6 months (to fit foot length up to 10cm). Size 3: 6-12 months (to fit foot length up to 12cm).

  • You will need- Tools: 1 x pair 4mm (US size 6) knitting needles, 1 x pair 4mm (US size 6) double ended needles or 1 x 4mm (US size 6) crochet hook (to make laces), 1 x large yarn needle for sewing up. Yarn: Any DK (US - Light Worsted) yarn. Amount will vary depending on the fibre you choose. As a guide, I used 100% cotton . It took 30g of the yarn I used for size 3-4. If you use a wool mix or 100% wool or cotton you will need more, as these fibres are heavier, and less with acrylic.

You Will Also Need:

  • Very little patience for this one - it's a quickie!
