A simple cables and lace scarf with a garter stitch border.
Having two teenage daughters that are close in age can be a bumpy roller coaster ride with the daily emotional highs and lows. The cables remind me of how close I want to keep them to protect them from the outside world while the lace is the distance they seek and need in order to grow into healthy young women. Letting go.....it's bittersweet.
13 sts = 2.5" in pattern stitch after blocking

After my mother died we moved to South America to live with my maternal Grandmother. She believed that idle hands were the devils work so she taught my sisters and me to knit, crochet, and needlepoint. We were constantly making handle cozies for her old refrigerator. It was the kind where you pulled the handle down to open it.

After college while I was stationed at Ft. Hood and my boyfriend was stationed in Germany I made him a lap blanket, thankfully not a sweater! We've been married 20 years now. Through the ensuing years I've picked up quilting, scrap booking and beading with knitting and quilting being my two favorite passions. I started designing last year after taking Stefanie Japel's design your own shawl online class. I loved the challenge of creating something with yarn and then putting it down on paper for others to knit and enjoy. I hope you enjoy knitting my designs.
