Pattern Description:

The fluid design of the Lead or Follow Lace Scarf is a wonderful study in the behavior of lace knitting when yarn overs are placed in various positions relative to the compensating decrease. This scarf is true knitted lace; i.e. lace hole patterning is knit on every row. Well worth the beauty.

I finished this scarf last week, and loved the pattern (thanks Jackie! I have to say, that scarf is probably the thing that I'm most proud of knitting. I started it before I could figure out that lace might be "hard", and your well-written pattern made it a breeze. I have several other of your scarf patterns that I am now anxious to try!

Gauge:

22 stitches = 4 inches

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

12" x 68" scarf, or desired length and width with yardage adjustment
This scarf can be easily adjusted for length or width. Instructions for modification included in pattern.
Allow additional yarn if widening or lengthening.

Materials:

Allow 500 yards of lace or fingering weight yarn
size US 5 / 3.75 mm needles suggested
