Pattern Description:

This Cowl, the partner to the Klimt Hat, is inspired by the intense colors and designs of the paintings of Gustav Klimt.

This cowl, in 4 lengths/sizes uses 2 different color work techniques, all explained in the pattern - 2 color knitted braid and mosaic color work - a surprisingly easy technique where only one color is worked at a time.

Pattern contains chart and written instructions.

Yarn yardage listed above should be divided equally between 2 colors.


26 stitches and 44 rows = 4 inches in colorwork pattern

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Small (20" circumference), Medium (23" circumference), Large (26" circumference), and Extra Large (40" circumference)


  • 200 (240, 360, 560) yards of DK weight yarn
  • US 5/3.75mm circular needles with a 16 inch cable for sizes Small and Medium, or a 24" cable for sizes Large and Extra Large
