Pattern Description:

Impetus can be knit with almost any yardage, in any weight of yarn. Simply choose needles that produce a pleasing fabric, weigh or divide the yarn in half, and begin. Keep in mind that different materials will produce different results. That is, of course, the fun part!


22 sts and 24 rows = 4" [10 cm] in garter stitch, after blocking.
Gauge is not critical, but note that changes in gauge will result in different yarn req'ts.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Adjustable. Sample measured 60" wide and 13.5" [152.5 x 34.5 cm] deep, after blocking


  • Miss Babs, Yummy Superwash Sock and Baby Yarn-2 ply (400 yds/366 m, 3.53oz/100g skein), 1 skein
  • US 5 (3.75 mm) needles; or size required to obtain gauge

You Will Also Need:

  • Stitch markers (2), yarn needle, pins or wires for blocking

Suggested yarn:

400 yards of Fingering weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Miss Babs, Yummy Superwash Sock and Baby Yarn - 2 pl
