Basic Skills Necessary:

  • do stranded knitting with at most two colors in one round
  • knit an purl

Pattern Description:

I love horses! And I love making special hats that stand out. So the horsetail beanie came into existence.
It has one of the cutest corrugated (two -color) ribbing I have ever created, followed by a herringbone edge and bands of different horses: running, jumping and prancing ones at the top in stripes.
The stripes continue along the horsetail that ends in a tassel. I left the strands of the tassel longer than usual in order to make them ressemble a real "horsetail".

As the whole beanie has only two colors throughout the whole knitting, it is also suitable for stranded knitting beginners.

I used 4-ply sock yarn in black and off-white. You can also use Acrylic yarn of similar weight.

Enjoy and happy knitting!

Knitting gauge: 1 x 1 inch: 8 stitches and 9 rows in stranded knitting.
