Basic Skills Necessary:

Pattern Description:

The Honeybee Cap and Beret are abuzz with a swarm of delightful little slip-stitch bees. Ascending from a mock honeycomb border atop a twisted rib brim, the bees take flight into a tight spiral at the crown of each hat. Pattern includes instructions for BOTH hats.
The pattern has been professionally tech edited and test knit to reduce the potential for error.
INSTRUCTIONS
The pattern is fully charted, but also includes complete written directions so the ability to read a chart is not necessary to work this pattern.
YARN NOTES
A worsted weight yarn with good stitch definition and little to no halo is recommended. Slight tonals will work, but highly variegated yarn will distract from the slipped stitch pattern.
Allow approx 115 yds (105 m) worsted weight yarn for cap. Allow approx 175 yds (160 m) worsted weight yarn for beret.

Gauge:

Using larger-sized needles, 20 stitches/24 rows to 4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm) in stockinette stitch, unblocked.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Cap and beret brims fit a medium adult head size of approx 20" - 22" (51 cm - 56 cm). Blocked cap circumference is approx 20" (51 cm). Blocked beret circumference is approx 24" (61 cm).

Materials:

  • US 6 (4 mm) 16" (41 cm) circularneedle
  • US 7 (4.5 mm) 16" (41 cm) circular needle
  • US 7 (4.5 mm) 7" (18 cm) double-pointed needles

You Will Also Need:

  • Tapestry/blunt yarn needle
  • Stitch Markers (2)

Suggested yarn:

175 yards of Worsted weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Cap knit using 2 1.75 oz/50 gr (110 yds/101 m) balls of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Worsted Yarn (100% Peruvian Highland wool) in Golden Heather. Beret knit using 2 1.75 oz/50 gr (110 yds/101 m) balls of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Worsted Yarn (100% Peruvian Highland wool) in Creme Brulee.
