I teach knitting. I had requests from customers to have a class exploring lace, texture, and cables. My solution was to put all three techniques in one pattern! I also love head kerchiefs for pulling the hair back and out of the way in the Summer. So practical. The pattern is based on a head kerchief I had made for myself years ago, and wore out.
I love this pattern because it is versatile. The lace one is simple and straightforward. The second introduces following a chart with an easy 2 stitch cable. The third adds a much more complex cable chart, and is a lot of fun. The ties are made using the cable cast on, and then casting off over this. You will have to keep an eye on your cast off tension here so the ties do not spiral. Measure your head circumference, and make the scarf 2 inches shorter than your circumference before ties. Enjoy!

Katie has been passionate about handwork since she could pick up a needle. She comes from a family of acompished knitters and loves her time shared knitting with them. She loves rethinking basics, coming up with something fun, and playing with design and proportion. She started to knit without patterns and has fallen in love with the creative process, appreciating what her fingers come up with. She began to publish patterns in 2010, and looks forward to what is to come.View all patterns by designer (4) »
