Basic Skills Necessary:

  • casting on, purl ,knit, slip stitch, binding off

Pattern Description:

A knitting pattern for a soft, chunky cowl. This cowl has great texture and is very warm. With the button closure, it can be worn many ways.

Pattern is for advanced beginners. It uses a combination of purl, knit, and slip stitches to create a fun, textured knit.

It can easily be made wider or longer, by casting on more stitches ( in multiples of 4 + 2) or knitting more rows.

This pattern is for your personal use only. Please do not copy and distribute to others


Gauge: 13 stitches = 4 inches in mock cable rib stitch. (gauge is not critical for this project)

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 11" X 27"


  • 6 oz. bulky- super bulky weight yarn
  • Sizes 9 & 10.5 knitting needles
