This oversized cowl generously covers the shoulders with its short capelet.
The long and shaped upper section can be worn folded down for extra warmth around the neck or as a hood over the head when it rains.
Knitted in the round seamlessly, transverse welts nicely contour your shoulders and head, while fancier stitches, inspired by the majestic buildings and the worn cobblestones of the Grand Place in Brussels, texture the central section. Short rows provide shaping to the hood.
Grand Place is knitted with aran or bulky weight yarns. Pictured sample knitted with aran weight at a loose gauge for a soft and squishy cowl, knit it with bulky yarn for a denser and extra warm cowl.
A pair of matching mittens to keep your hands warm is also available for free.
14 stitches and 22 rows = 4 inches in St st

This is my website: www.innerShelter.net where I have a virtual gallery for my enamelled jewellery and information about my knitting patterns.
With a background in arts and crafts and design, it was only a matter of (little) time until I started designing knitted items. I am just getting started, and loving it. My blog is: http://inner-shelter.blogspot.be/
