  • chart reading, knowledge of basic lace stitches : k2tog, ssk, yo, etc

Pattern Description:

A pretty, modern, airy, shawl for Spring! -- knit from a single skein of one of my favorite yarns, Skinny Bugga from Cephalopod Yarns. The body of the shawl is knit entirely from written instructions and consists primarily of an easy 10 row repeat ; only the lace edging is charted. Stitch counts are available to keep on track :-)

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • approximately 60" x 30" -- finished size depends on your guage and blocking

Materials:

  • 420 yards of fingering weight yarn, size 6 or 7 needles

You Will Also Need:

  • stitch markers (optional), blocking materials (wires, pins, mat), large sewing needle, wool wash

Average Glam shell pattern  March 12, 2013


This was my first lace project ever, so you must know, it took me about 6 attempts in the beginning to understand the pattern, and start all over again.
Even though it didn't turn out as big as I would have liked, it's still one of the most proudest thing I've ever made.
I've been showing it off for about 2 days now.

Okay Tiny glam shells  October 15, 2012


This was my first lace project, although i have been knitting constantly for 10 years. I have made everything from socks to cardigans. My favorite pattern source is Interweave Knits.
I used sock yarn, and size 8 needles. My finished project was more like a neck wrap in size. Since there was no gauge given, i did not know how it would turn out til I was done. Also, new lace knitters should know that the pattern does not say, but the WS is purled. That is also not specified.
