  • Make twisted stitches with or without a cable needle

  • Cast on using cable method

Pattern Description:

Gentleman hat is a very easy beanie worked from the brim to the crown in a versatile DK weight yarn.

The elegant ribbing stitch pattern makes it both interesting and totally unisex. The crown is shaped in a pinwheel ribbing pattern, for a nice contrast with the body.

It is available in 3 sizes, and can be easily adapted to other yarn weight if you want to.


25 sts over 40 rows blocked in elegant ribbing over 4 inches square

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Child (women, men)


  • 130 (230, 250) yds of DK weight yarn OR
  • 1 (2, 2) balls of Valley Yarns Superwash DK (DK weight, 100% superwash extrafine merino, 137 yds per 50 gr balls)

You Will Also Need:

  • US size 5 (3.75mm) circular 29 inches
  • US size 6 (4mm) circular 29 inches
  • Set of US size 6 (4mm) dpns for in the round knitting (optional)
  • Tapestry needle
  • 1 stitch marker

Suggested yarn:

200 yards of DK weight
