You will need to know how to cast on stitches, knit stitches, purl stitches, knit two stitched together, cast off, seam the finished work and knit in ends of the finished work - skill level intermediate.

Pattern Description:

This hip little baby girl hat is soft and warm, designed with a delicate seed stitch rim. The hat is easily knit on two needles. The chevron embroidery is added at the end.

A hat, for an average skilled knitter, should take approximately five hours to complete.

The model was knit in Bergere de France Caline, color Gigoteuse, in size 24 months, and is worn by my twin daughter Anglique at 3 years old. The embroidery is done in Dulce by Infitex color 835.

Gauge:

24 sts and 33 rows in a 4 inch (10 cm) square

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

The hat is soft and stretchy and can be knit in six sizes, including premature, newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, or 24 months.
