Wrap yourself in this sweet little pair of shawls/shawlettes. Both shawlettes are knit in one piece (including the edging!) from tip to tip. The Flame Shawlette features an allover diamond lace pattern, while the Flicker Shawlette has areas of the diamond lace pattern selectively removed creating an asymmetrical design twist on an otherwise traditional pattern.
A generous 66" (168cm) wingspan means these versatile shawlettes can be worn as a scarf or as a traditional shawl.
Flicker and Flame, while quick to knit, make wonderful gifts and are great take along projects as well as the shorter length rows make them easy to put down and pick up later without losing your place.
Instructions for BOTH shawls are included with this pattern. The pattern is fully charted, however, a few beginning rows are written out to aid novice chart readers in following along, so don't be intimidated if you are new to charts!
22 stitches/30 rows to 4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm) in stockinette stitch, blocked.
640 yards of Fingering weight

Growing up on a rural Southern Tier dairy farm, my family knew the value of handmade. My mother taught me to knit at an early age, and although I didn't see the value in it then, the enjoyment I received from creating something with my own hands has never left me.
My knitting patterns reflect my traditional, rural upbringing paired with a sense of taste that is becoming more and more liberated with each subsequent design. I notice my color palette becoming more adventurous and while my patterns themselves still follow those uncomplicated traditional lines, I can feel that same sense of adventure tugging at my sleeve and asking me to test new boundaries.
I am always happy to hear from fellow knitters and welcome questions on any of my designs - before or after purchase.
