Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knit, k2tog, k3tog, ssk, sssk, centered multiple decreases

Pattern Description:

Transform plain garter stitch with color and movement while showing off your favorite shawl pin or clasp Stitches are picked up and knit from individually stitched mitered squares. Three colors of lightweight yarn surround you in red-hot color. If you prefer, choose a single solid-colored yarn for the squares and a variegated yarn for the body of the shawl and the tips of the squares.


1 Square = 2" [5 cm] each side 24 sts and 48 rows = 4" [10 cm] in Garter Stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 52" [132 cm] circumference at lower edge; 13" [33 cm] depth to tips


  • Sport weight yarn (CYCA #2): 360 yds [329 m] A, 336 yds [307 m] B, 257 yds [235 m] C
  • US size 6 [4 mm] 24" [60 cm]or longer circular needles
