Skill Level:

small skill level requirement Beginner

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • You should be comfortable knitting from a chart.

Pattern Description:

I love Ostrich Plumes and I wanted to see what I could do with a differently-shaped shawl. This yarn has short color transitions, and looks great in the simple lace pattern.

This shawl is only available as a chart.

21 stitches = 4 inches or 10 cm

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 62 inches/158 cm across, 22 inches/56 cm deep.

  • 3 skeins Panda Silk in Firebird (color 5201). This is a fingering-weight yarn that is 52% bamboo, 43% Merino wool and 5% silk. It is 204 yards in 1.76 oz per skein or 187 meters in 50 grams. I had EXACTLY enough yarn for this shawl. If you are the nervous type, or your gauge differs from mine slightly, you might want to get 4 skeins of yarn.
  • #5 (3.75 mm) or size needed to get gauge. I prefer a set of long, circular needles, to accommodate the large number of stitches. Plus one #7 (4.5 mm) needle of any kind for casting off.

You Will Also Need:

  • 2 stitch markers

Suggested yarn:

612 yards of Fingering weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Panda Silk
