Fingerless Texels

from fingertips patterns
(6) Name: 'Knitting : Fingerless Texels
Fingerless Texels
Fingerless Texels

Pattern Description:

Texel is an island in the North Sea and the stitch patterns of these fingerless mittens remind me of the waves of the sea. Knit them in sea and beach colours, as shown here, or make it a colourful, abstract pattern. Why not use up all those little leftover bits of wool to make each row of waves a different colour?

Gauge:

32 sts, 44 rows = 10x10cm (4x4") in St st

32 sts, 70 rows = 10x10cm (4x4") in wave pattern

  • Women's XS/S, [Women's M, Women's L], for 17 [19, 20.5]cm (= 6 5/8[7 3/8, 8 1/8]") mitten circumference above thumb, to fit hands of same size or larger. The stitch pattern stretches well to provide a good fit.

Materials:

  • Fingering weight yarn, such as Regia 4-ply: 1 skein of 50g (210m/230 yards) of each colour (colours shown in pictures: 0017 light camel mottled and 01980 blue-grey mottled)
