The Fall Down Shawlette was designed as a simple stockinette top-down shawl to showcase the color shifts of the yarn. The bulky yarn had lived it(tm)s previous life as a garter stitch scarf. Unloved, the scarf was sent off to a fleamarket, where it was rescued and later unravelled by me. This quick-knit shawlette can be worn just as a casual shoulder warmer, as a shawl or as a neckerchief " all depending on the size of the finished object and how much yarn you use. It can basically be knit with any weight yarn, but you need to adjust the needle size accordingly. Gauge is not important, if you(tm)re satisfied with the fabric you get, go for it! The shawlette has a stockinette stitch body and a unique garter stitch knit-on border. It can be done all in garter stitch, and using a light-weight yarn like Kidsilk Haze produces a shawl fine enough to pull through a wedding ring!
I cannot remember how or when I started crafting, but most likely at school back when girls were taught sewing and knitting, while the boys had woodcrafting. Nowadays, I work hard at insulating my house with yarn and make my family handmade gifts for every occasion, regretting the lack of time for knitting. But never regretting my stash buildup! A girl's gotta have choice!
