Pattern Description:

Dainty fairy motifs at one end of this scarf transform into flowers at the other end. Bead embellishment defines the fairy heads and flower buds. Taking advantage of the natural bias of the lace stitch patterns, a scalloped edging frames the entire piece.

I envisioned a design of ethereal fairies that would combine textured stitches and beads. For the fairies, a cable twist and eyelets define the body and wings, while a bead (placed with the crochet hook method) represents the head.

Special Techniques Used and Described in this pattern:
. Placing a bead with a crochet hook
. 5-stitch cable with center upright stitch
. Chain stitch selvedge
. Bind off with k2togtbl

Gauge:

23 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inches over blocked lace stitch pattern

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

8" by 64" after blocking; this project is easily adjusted for other sizes in increments of approximately 2" in width or in length

375 yards lace weight yarn at approx 250 yards per ounce
Glass seed beads: 30 g size 6/0 (4 mm diameter)
Suggested needles: US 4 / 3.5 mm
