I finish one pair. They are fun and easy to make. But I find the top of the opening is too straight and too close to the top of the foot. Any suggestion on slight moderation?
It is just the style of this slipper, it is meant to cover the whole top of your foot. Perhaps you might try making the next pair a size bigger and really take time during felting to pull and shape the slipper so that the foot opening is a bit wider? I am glad you found the pattern easy to make. :)
What about size's foe kids do you just keep felting them until you get the right size.?
I am sorry, I really don't know. My pattern is written for women's sizing. I have not written nor tested the slippers in kids sizes yet. You might just try making the smallest size and felting them down as far as they go. This would show you what size in kids it would make. From there you'd just have to test again knitting less stitches and length. sorry, wish I could be of more help.
I've made three pairs, they came out great...I felted them successfully in a front loading machine. Put them in a pillow case with a towel and after two short hot cycles(cold rinse) they were felted.
I really like the blue pair of slippers! They look so cozy and almost like mocassins or clogs.
Haven't purchased the pattern yet but need to know how much yarn each pair uses. It indicates two skeins but skeins of yarn vary in the amount of yarn. Two skeins of 50 grams or 100 grams?
They would be 100 gram skeins.:)
Are these slippers knit ( I t is not clear to me after reading the pattern) using two strands of yarn together, instead of 1 strand of yarn?
As the pattern states in the very first step of directions:"You will be using 2 strands of yarn throughout.", this means that you hold 2 strands together throughout the whole pattern. Do not use just a single strand.:)
Oh duh, I get it now that I am doing it. Thanks.
I have a question about the wrapping a stitch. The instructions seem backwards to me as I would think all the stitches would be on the left needle not the right. Am I not understanding how to do this?
HI! here is my email address, send me an email and lets see if we can get some dialog going to help you. kris@kriskrafter.com:)
love this pattern . was looking for something I could use as a quick gift item . and since I'm a guy I just upped the needle size and yarn thickness . I finished my first slipper in about 2 hours before bed last night. now to do the other n felt them .
Yay! Glad you got the size you wanted! I'd love it if you'd rate the pattern. Thanks!Kris
I bought this pattern yesterday and am wondering if this is the pattern for the light blue slippers with brown sole shown in the picture? After downloading the pattern, the pics of the slippers in the pattern don't look like this at all. Thanks for you help.
The PDF file (pattern) is indeed the correct one. I have made many pairs using my pattern, the green with brown soles and top stitching is just one of many. The pattern instructions features a pair that is 2-color orange. There is also shown in a the pattern a blue/white stripey pair. You can make these slippers, striped, one color, top & sole different color, you can top stitch, etc. Have fun!
Thank you Kris for your help!!
Can you tell me up to what size these slippers go? I need something I can wear while my feet heal from surgery and since I am still wearing bandages I would need something upwards of size 10 Wide for women. Thanks for your prompt answer. These slippers look like they're extremely comfortable...
Any way I can enlarge this pattern for men?
I was curious about upsizing this as well...would like to make a 12 for my husband.
THis pattern will make womens sizes SM/MED/LG. With felting the good news is that you can get your slippers to fit you exactly as you want them to fit. For the womens size 10 make the size large. Read thru the felting instructions completely, especially if you have not felted before. I am sorry, this pattern would not be large enough for mens sizes. Best regards and Happy knitting!Kris
I just purchased this pattern based on the bluel/brown slipper that you use to sell the pattern. However, the instructions do not provide enough detail to complete the pattern as pictured (only accomplished knitters with felting experience will understand). The instructions are, however, very similar to ones in a book about felting. Such a disappointment to get something other than advertised. Very clever...So sorry I bought it.CJ
Carol, my photos show that you can make these in any color combinations, you are correct, I don't spell out specifically what colors to use because you may use any colors, any combination of colors. For the green/brown ones I used bown for the soles, then when I reached the toe I switched to green yarn. Pretty easy. I then top stitched just for decoration, with a contrasting color. I put this pattern on Ravelry as well and here is the link to the projects page - http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ez-2-needle-felted-slipper-pattern/peopleit shows how creative people can be with diff. color combinations. The pattern is a basic, easy, pattern. The color or colors of yarn to be used is your choice.
Thank you for your prompt response. I appreciate the additional information about the colors you chose for this particular slipper. I am visual with not a lot of creative talent and rely on patterns to achieve the final product. I loved the colors and hope to create something similar as a gift. I've reviewed the other options on Ravelry but still love the blue/green and brown combination. I'll give it a try and hope for the best. Again, thank you for your positive response.CJ
I'm also trying to make the same green/brown ones, but I don't know if I should start with the blue and then switch to brown fort he heel and botton. ... and then switch again to green to work the toe? Could you please clarify how and where do you switch colors for this model?
Just got my pattern last night and started making these - loving them and can't wait to finish!
Sorry I just saw this comment... You start with the green for the cuff, then switch to brown for the heel/bottom, continue with brown for half the toe, when you start your increase part of the toe you switch back to green (this is the top part of the toe), continue on in green for the balance of the pattern (top part of foot and top part of cuff). I have made so many of these slippers and have played with many color combinations - this one in particular, the green with the brown seems to be the one that people gravitate to. Again sorry for the delayed response. :)
I've made several pairs of these; in many sizes. It's fairly easy to resize to make larger and smaller. I even made a toddler size. I also knit them in the round like you would socks. It's a great starter pattern to play around with. For those that aren't seasoned knitters; I would suggest making the slippers once before getting too creative. They knit up quick and you'll be able to visualize what colors you want in your next pair and how they come together. You'll want to make a pair for everyone on your holiday list!
Awesome! Glad to hear you've enjoyed making the slippers.
Having trouble downloading the corrected pattern
