Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knitting in the round, simple cabling, bobbles, increasing and decreasing

Pattern Description:

Fitted, lacy fingerless mitts knitted in the round. Very textured with the use of wrapped stitches, lace, little bobbles and thumb gussets shaped with eyelets. The picot hem is turned upwards, and there is an optional lace edging and/or lengthening charts.

All special techniques are explained with the help of pictures. Charts and written instructions provided (except lengthening chart, charted only)

This pattern is for intermediate level knitters.

Recommended yarn: Rowan Pure Wool 4ply in Avocado 419

Lace edging:
The lace edging on the mittens is optional. You will need a small amount of lace weight yarn (pictured Rowan Kidsilk Haze colourway 629 Fern). Needles for lace edging: 3.5 mm (US 4), circular, dpn or straight. Gauge is not important.

Gauge:

30 stitches and 42 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch (in the round)

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • This pattern is one size, women's small/medium. Measurements for the finished mitts are as follows: wrist, cuff and top edge circumference of 16 cm (approx. 6") which can be worn with different degrees of ease.

Materials:

  • Needles: US 2 - 2.75 mm circular or DPN

You Will Also Need:

  • Locking stitch marker. Scrap yarn. Tapestry needle.

150 yards of Fingering weight
